It's been a long time since I've blogged, but it seems like a good time to pick up a "pen" again and write. Today was the first "long" run for my half marathon
training program! It's amazing to me how far my running and fitness have come over the past year. I can hardly wait to see what I can achieve in 2012. I've gone from huffing and puffing my way through a mile to running an "easy" 5 or 6. My aerobic fitness has gone from an assessed "fair" to nearly "excellent." I've dropped 8 pounds, gained friends, lowered my resting heart rate, and found a healthy outlet for my dogged determination.
So, today's long run -- 5 easy miles -- is the first to get ready for the Cherry Blossom 10-miler and ultimately the
Virginia Wine Country Half. I took it slow, like we were supposed to, and felt great!
